How Can You Afford It?

"I've always wanted to live above my means because it inspired me to work harder,"

-Robert Kiyosaki

Do you agree with that quote?

At first I didn't and I guess it was because I heard "live below your means" so often that I didn't see the other side of things.

I don't think he meant live above your means and go in debt, He meant focus on earning more.

There are two ways to get something, cut expenses and save the excess or earn more money.

By him being a capitalist, he always thinking on how to make more money, not cut expenses.

How do you determine the way to afford something? Earn More or cut expenses?

What is your strategy on buying something in the future that you cannot afford right now:

Make More Money?
Save, Save, Save?
Steal it?

just kidding about the last one, lol

Frankly RK is right. Think Big and reep the rewards. If you constantly living below your means, you will be starving yourself especially if you already make little money

RK is a nitwit and his advice is overrated.

And to answer the question 'earn more or cut expenses?' the answer, particularly if you are trying to get out of debt or save for something big, is 'both'.

Kiyosaki has a point. I've never had a really good job, and a number of bad jobs I hated intensely. So intensely that if I could find a way to save a buck, I wouldn't have to work so many hours at the detestable job.

The converse applies to what RK is saying:

If I was spending too much (esp on housing) and/or had debt; I "needed" to work harder at the jobs I detested.
