Whenever you leave your house, you inevitably spend money

So what are the choices, stay at home and deprive yourself or go out and budget your moola! I was reading a story on CNN money and the title above was mentioned.

I try to never let money control me. If I want to eat out oppose to cooking at home, I want to do it comfortably. I hope to never have to make a choice. The older I get, the less I want to go backwards financially. Stuff like that just makes me wanna think of more ways to make more money.

Someone once said that, rich people work and sacrifice for about 10 years and they spend the other 50 years enjoying their lives. And the rest have fun for about 10 years and live the rest of their lives in debt and trying to get by.

That stuck with me. I guess everyone has to pay a price for their comfort zone.

Play now, Struggle later or Struggle now and Play later.

PF guru, Dave Ramsey also puts it another way: Live like no one else so later you can live like no one else !!!

We all know how to make money, it's what we do with it that determines our comfort level.

Aesop's fable, the Ant and the Grasshopper, pretty much tells this story.

Wait, you left one out:

Struggle now, struggle later.

erm, but wait, there are plenty of times I leave my house to go on a walk....or ride my bicycle..?

So...maybe...it's..."everytime you leave your house in a motorized vehicle you spend money"...because even if you don't buy something you are taking up resources in the form of driving the vehicle :-)

That does tend to be true but with online shopping being so easy these days I tend to spend money inside the house as well!

What if "later" never comes. Some of DR's quotes imply that he has tunnel vision and no regard for enjoying the journey, only the final destination.

But I agree, we do spend money whenever we leave the house. But let's take it a step further. We also spend money whenever we get out of bed. I turn on lights (electricity), turn up the heat (gas), then take a shower (water). *sigh*

My point is, any blanket statements like that is ridiculous in a vacuum. Money is made to be spent - even if not today, there is a plan to spend it eventually.

Earn enough to live the lifestyle you want, spend, rinse, and repeat. That's it. The end.

If it's so easy, how come millions of Americans can't do it?
