“I spent $80,000 on a college degree I will never use.”
“I eat at restaurants that I can’t afford so as not to lose face with my friends.”
“When I found out he was cheating, spent all the money in his bank accounts before telling him I wanted a divorce.”
“I lost my job 3 weeks ago and I still haven’t told my wife.”
“When my wife asked where I got the money, I told her that I had saved it. I really took a second mortgage out on our house.”

“My job is convincing people to buy things they don’t need. I’m good at it, but I hate myself every day.”
I once took a sales job after graduating from college and I quit for this very reason !!!
I couldn’t take it anymore! We were forced to sell stuff to people regardless if they needed it. We had to keep trying.

When I read some of these, I am almost glad that I am single.
Could never understand people getting degrees they would never use. Maybe it is my upbringing, but I’ve always considered a degree as work training, not a place to become a well-rounded person (books?) or learn what one should’ve learned in school e.g. how to write. People with passion in something AND exceptional talent owe it to themselves to try it (in order not to spend their life asking “what if”); the rest should have a very clear plan of what they want to do with their degree. Sometimes getting a minor in what one likes or doing a double major is a good solution.
It sounds like the second person should find different friends. Real friends shouldn’t get their friends in a situation where they’d have to spend more money than what they may be able to afford. Wonder if this person’s friends also cannot afford it and are trying not to loose face.

Hehe so true. Buying things you don’t need. That’s the foundation of the U.S. economy.
Hyper Consumerism…
If only we could spend more money on infrastructure building bridges, fixing roads, improving water pipes and what not. The country as whole would be much better.

Single people shouldn’t read some of these. Doesn’t make marriage sound so hot.

I doubt if these couples have money issues. They really have marriage issues and money just brings their marriage issue out more
